Nantucket Lightship is built in Boston.

1936

The oldest lightship in continued operation in the U.S., the 150-foot vessel is the largest such ship ever built. After almost 40 years off the Nantucket Shoals, it returns to Boston and is decommissioned in 1975. Designated a national historic landmark in 1989, it is moved to Oyster Bay, New York in 2008, but returns to Boston in 2010 and is refurbished for use as a museum and educational resource. The ship is refurbished again in 2020.
